Downtown Austin is booming! Fifty-six development projects have been announced, and twenty-three of them are currently under construction. Whole Foods opened an 85,000 sq. ft. flagship store downtown in 2005, the Second Street Retail District opened twenty-four new retail stores and eleven restaurants in the past two years, and the downtown office market is on the rise.

The daytime employee population of 90,000 combined with 363,000 Austinites who live within a 10-minute drive time to downtown, and the millions of visitors who come here for conventions, entertainment and special events, make downtown a rich and dynamic marketplace.
