Austin’s Lake Living

Town Lake

Town Lake is the part of the Colorado River that runs though downtown and serves as an amenity for many people in the city.  The town lake hike and bike trail allows for recreation near the water.  Just outside Barton Springs there are canoe rentals so that the lake can be enjoyed by boat.

Lake Austin

Just upstream from Town Lake Lake Austin's shores serve as home sites for some of the city's most beautiful Homes.  Lake Austin is also home to many great restaurants and the famous views of the 360 bridge. Only minutes from downtown Lake Austin combines the best of the Hill Country with the convenience of the city.

Lake Travis

Lake Travis is northwest of Austin and is the second lake in the Chain Highland Lakes which stair-step up the Colorado River from Austin. Travis is 63 miles long with 270 miles of shoreline, has a maximum width of 4.5 miles, a maximum depth of 210 feet, and an average depth of 62 feet.  The shoreline is fairly well developed with very large and expensive homes, yet there are plenty of places to beach or anchor for swimming or fishing. The water is very clear and emerald green. There are some huge and fast boats and lots of jet skis and other boats, so the lake can get rough on weekends.  Popular restaurants such as Carlos and Charlie's or The Oasis which boasts the best sunsets in Texas are situated on the water for great views.
